We would like to introduce a case study on measures taken to address perceptible vibrations caused by the operation of a ceiling-mounted air conditioning indoor unit. In a clinic on the 12th floor of an existing building, perceptible vibrations were occurring on the desk in the examination room due to the operation of the ceiling-mounted air conditioning indoor unit below. An air conditioning outdoor unit installed on the rooftop of an office building was generating solid noise on the floor directly below when it entered defrost mode. Although the outdoor unit was equipped with rubber pads for vibration isolation, the vibration isolation performance of the rubber pads was minimal, allowing the vibrations from the outdoor unit to propagate to the building structure and cause solid noise on the floor below.
